Thank you for considering a Five Eighths goat.
Please review to the bottom and fill out the simple form.
I hate rules, but as they say, every stupid rule has someone stupid's name attached at the end.......
Quality of kids cannot be guaranteed, therefore we make no promises beyond the health of your new goat at the time of sale. I cannot promise teat placement, show wins or milk production. Management controls too much of that, and genetics are a fickle friend. I CAN offer my best opinion based on experience.
If you show up and the goat appears to have an issue, SAY SOMETHING and DO NOT take it home.
Taking the goat home means you approve of it's condition. Risk of loss passes to buyer when the goat leaves our gate.
1 *** When you bring your new goat home, schedule it a vet appointment! Moving stresses goats out a LOT- but they wont appear stressed-- that would alert predators in the wild. They will internalize it and it will manifest as something physical like a coccidia outbreak, or parasites, or pneumonia. If you aren't an experienced goat owner, just visit the vet and let them know. ***
2 ***We keep a free list for kid reservations. Just shoot me a message! Despite all these rules I'm very pleasant. Usually.
2.*** When you are contacted that your reservation has been filled, you will have 24 hours to pass or send a 50% deposit. Remaining balance due within 30 days at pickup. This 50% deposit is NON-refundable and NON-transferrable. READ HERE: reserved babies need to be picked up by 30 days old! I will NOT raise your bottle baby for you. At some point it becomes my bottle baby again. (that "some point" is at 31 days...)
All reservations must be picked up by 30 days of age, unless paid in full to be dam raised.
3 ****All OTHER purchases (not pre-birth reservations, but purchases of already born animals) must be picked up within 2 weeks of placing a deposit. I will not hold a goat without a 50% NON-refundable deposit. You may come see the goats before placing a deposit, but if someone else places a deposit while you are on the way, I will text you and tell you "Sorry." (I'm not a jerk about this, I promise. But yes, this rule is also here because of a real person who kept saying they were on the way but never showed up.) After two weeks I charge boarding fees $5 per day board for bottle babies and $2 per day weaned goats. Boarding is available for an additional 30 days in MOST cases, but discuss it with me prior to purchase because sometimes it will not be available.
If your 2 weeks/ 30 days passes without communication and receipt of boarding fees, your 50% deposit is forfeit.
4****If your registered kid arrives home with a genetic issue or breed/ show DQ, I will ask for proof and issue a full refund. (double or blind teats, undescended testicles, overbite, etc) Proof may require my veterinarian's inspection and report, and is subject to the ADGA handbook. (This applies to registered stock only, unregistered animals might have a defect that prevented them from being registered, but does not affect overall health)
Nigerians that go over height do NOT qualify for a refund!!!
5****Risk of loss passes to the buyer at pickup on our farm. Whether it be a transporter or the new owner picking the goat up, please inspect it before loading it up. If you deem the goat healthy and load it up, you assume risk of loss and will not receive a refund if the animal dies on the way home. Or ever. (I will never sell you an animal I believe might be ill, but I cannot be responsible for anything that happens to the animal off my farm, or for lax management practices.) (Yes, also a real person who left a baby goat in a hot car to grocery shop on the way home from my farm)
6***It is the buyers responsibility to arrange transport home for their new animal. I am very flexible and can arrange to be here at almost any day. I can have a health certificate (additional $50) ready within a week, and sometimes sooner. But animals MUST be picked up from our farm. I cannot guarantee I'll be at any show and I rarely travel, but you are welcome to ask. If I'm headed to a show I will happily bring your goat along free of charge.
7***We test annually for CAE and spot test for CL and Johnes. We always post our negative results on our FB page. If you would life a specific doe tested for any diseases or genetic disqualifications, we will gladly do so at BUYERS expense and with a 50% deposit. The deposit is only refundable if the goat tests positive for tested disease (or genetic DQ such as positive for CM not just a carrier)
7.A****PLEASE NOTE: if you want a goat tested for Johnes, you MUST choose the fecal test through WADDL. Blood tests are not accurate, as stated on almost all testing websites. (This test is around $100 at my last check, plus shipping- remember this is at your expense)
If your 2 weeks/ 30 days passes without communication and receipt of boarding fees, your 50% deposit is forfeit
8*** CM testing is done on an as needed basis. If youd like an animal tested for CM, please see #7 as all procedures apply.
9*****Five Eighths Farm reserves the right to retain any kid born here, despite any reservations. If your reservation isnt filled you may roll it over to the next year to be in the front of the line, or cancel it at your discretion.
10***** We reserve the right to refund any deposit at any time and/ or cancel any sale at any time. If the buyer doesn't pick their goat up by the 2 week (older doe) or 30 day (kid reservation) timeline, their deposit and claim to the goat is forfeit. I'm flexible if you call BEFORE your deadline, not after.
11: I always appreciate it if you offer me my goats back to me before you resell them. Sometimes I will accept! But it is NOT a requirement. When you buy the goat it is now YOURS and I hold no further lien on it.
Please review to the bottom and fill out the simple form.
